Hurricanes Football Club were formed in March 2009, and elected into the league on June 12th 2009. Our location, near to the Manston RAF museum, gave rise to our name and we have quickly become recognised in the local football
community.
We have been very lucky to have the sole use of the football pitch and changing facilities at the Hoverspeed
Sports and Social Club at Manston which has enabled us to develope excellent facilities and cultivate one of the best playing pitches in the area. In this respect,
we are also very fortunate to have the support of the Manston Golf Centre, who very kindly keep the pitch in great shape for our home matches.
We have held several successfull social events at the excellent clubhouse and during the first two years held charity football matches in aid of the childrens cancer charity Clik Sargent
raising nearly £3000 for a very worthy cause. In this endeavour we were helped by two local football teams (Trinity and Hugin Vikings). Although a similar event was not held this summer due to other committments,
we are fully committed as a club to the support of worthy charities and the local community and hope to hold more sponsored matches during the coming year.
We have enjoyed two fairly successful years in the Molten East Kent Youth League finishing mid-table and reaching the final and semi-final of the Cup competitions in respective years.
In both cases we were eventually beaten by teams who have dominated the division above us for the last two years and the boys can hold their heads high for their performances in these games.
We have a great group of boys and very supportive parents who are totally committed to making this one of the best clubs in this area.
During the summer we were successfull in achieving the FA Charter Standard and this was in no small part due to the efforts of the parents committee and reflects the manner in which this club is run.
We are not and never will be a club where winning is everything. The enjoyment of the players is paramount and we aspire to a position where defeat is accepted honourably and success celebrated in moderation.
We believe this will lead to true success both on and off the pitch and be a measure of how we are viewed by other clubs.
As the new 2011-12 season approaches, I would like to wish everyone at the club an enjoyable and rewarding year playing for, coaching and watching the team and I hope also that our activities outside of the football will be equally successfull.
Thanks you all for your support and encouragment without which we would not be able to function as effectively.
