2010-2011 CLUB PRESENTATION
The following is an account of the Club Presentation event held on the 17th July at our Hoverspeed Ground and attended by the players, parents and friends. A selection of photos taken at the presentation are also shown.It was planned as an outdoor B-B-Q event with Luke kindly providing the equipment and also cooking the burgers and sausages. The weather started well but unfortunately deteriorated as the afternoon progressed; however, this did not spoil the fun and Generation Sports did a great job organising the entertainment to include sideshows and an inflatable football pitch where the boys had great fun in an organised 3-a-side competition.
When the rain started to come down, Luke continued to cook the food under a gazebo whilst the boys were entertained in the sports hall by James also provided by Generation Sports who sang some great songs in the style of Michael Buble. This turned out to be a highlight of the day and the boys had great fun strutting their stuff on the stage and the parents enjoyed the music.
The annual awards ceremony took place with the Chairman of the Hoverspeed Club, Margaret MacMillan presenting the medals. Each player received a squad plaque and the main awards were given as follows:
Supporters/Parents Player of the Year went to Daniel B-M. Voted for by the parents and supporters. Although the vote was close Daniel was a clear winner having improved beyond recognition this year. He never complains and always gives his best in every game; he is a player that everyone has grown to like and respect in equal measure.
Managers Player of the Year also went to Daniel B-M. Clive gave this award for Daniels improvement and attitude both at training and during matches. Always giving his best and listening to and putting into practice the instructions that he was given.
Players Player of the Year went to Jaeger Horne. The player's player arguably is the most coveted award in the club as it has been voted for by his fellow players. We've run out of superlatives to describe his performance for us this year. He just never lets us down and has shown such determination and consistency all year.
Chairmans Cup was awarded to James Bullard. This is a new award that will be given each year to a player of the Chairmans chosing. The award consists of the main cup that will be handed on next year and a smaller trophy for the player to keep. The cup is engraved with the words 'Determination' 'Commitment' and 'Endeavour' and these are the attributes that will be used to decide the winner. Determination on the field of play, commitment to the team and maximum endeavour at all times whether we are winning or losing. It is fitting that the first time this cup is awarded it goes to James who has been with the club from the start and never gives anything less than his best at all times.
